Personal Details
I became a Professional Associate of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) on 17th June 1980 and was elected a Fellow on 11th May 1988. I am a Corporate Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
For many years I have been familiar with the buildings around Kensington. After leaving university in 1974 I lived at 2 Melbury Road for five years. I have either lived adjacent to Holland Park or had offices adjacent ever since.
Career Details
For three years prior to qualification in June 1980 I was a surveyor at Winkworth & Co, Kensington Heights, Campden Hill Road, London W8.
After qualifying as a chartered surveyor I moved to the firm of Carter Jonas where, as an associate, I was responsible for the day to day management of the Pitt Kensington Estate.
In April 1988 I commenced practice on my own account as Richard Birchall Associates, with offices at 2 Bedford Gardens, just off Kensington Church Street. In January 1999 we moved to the current offices in St Alban's Grove at the Kensington Gardens end of High Street Kensington.
